Oh and speaking of Python, I can write basic code but when it some to testing I not so sure. I know that in C we would just build .exe files (we wrote all our code for windows), but for Ubuntu… I tried running the file in the terminal but nothing happened, so i am guessing that I did not set up a parameter right or something..Well anyways I guess I going to be spending the next few hours of my life searching google for an answer.

It is no secret to the only person that will ever read this blog that I am experimenting with Linux as a operating system, namely Ubuntu. I thought that I would share a small victory I just had. I say victory because it has felt as though I have had an ongoing battle trying to master one small concept—installation of new software.
Now Ubuntu makes it easy for you to install software, providing the add/remove feature in every distribution, but it seems as though their list was somewhat lacking. If you do not believe me just head to Google and start a search for free Linux applications and then cross references your findings with those in the Ubuntu add/remove feature. You might find some basic programs but nothing on the scale of the ‘open market’. That is because hundreds, if not thousands, of new and improved applications are hitting the net each and every day. Because of the enormous amount of new applications it is impossible to test each and every one.
This became a serous dilemma because frankly the whole download and compile the software yourself was not working for someone who just got into computer languages this past semester. And let me tell you my little semester experience was not what you would call fun and enjoyable. It stunk. I do not know what the college was thinking trying to make you learn C right off the bat because it is so complicated. Just yesterday I took a quick look at Python and man was I surprised—it looked so simple. Now I am not saying that I can just sit down and go at it, but compared to C it’s a piece-of-cake.
Sorry I got off on a tangent. Back to the victory. I needed a way to download and install new apps without having to go through fifty steps, so I took my problem, as I always do, to someone who actually know what he’s doing—aka Scott. Scott told me about this little thing call apt-get, and let me tell you it is amazing. All you have to do is type sudo apt-get install [the_name_of_the_app]. Linux searches, finds, downloads, and installs.
Now Scott, if he ever read this, is probably thinking: what the heck, I told you about this nearly a week ago, And you are just now reading my email. Well if he is reading this, and thats what he is thinking, then I would say that I actually tried it the second I read the email, but it did not work. [Operating Error]. But today I finally succeeded in downloading two different applications. Oh it is a wonderful feeling to finally grasp a concept somewhat. Okay I am going now to eat supper….yum!
Job and more
•December 18, 2008 • Leave a CommentOkay, so finals are over and I am free from the oppression of overdue assignments and boring lectures about who knows what; the question now is what to do? This question sent me into a frenzy: so many things I want to do and so many things I need to do. So instead of spending my, like any intelligent young college student would doing absolutely nothing, I got a job. I am currently working for my Papa—that is pronounced Paw-Paw—at a
veterinarian supply store called Walco Int. Basically, as the name implies, we are a pharmacist for vets, which is absolutely riveting.
In my first post I said that I love to write literary critiques and that I would be posting some of my better ones as I go along.
I tried to add one to this post but I ran into some difficulties. Stupid blog will not let you be as creative a web page.
A little more….boring

I am going to take time to do something very rare. One I am posting twice on the same day something that will not happen often; secondly, I am going to endeavor into the past. I mainly do this so that you might have a better understanding of who I am and where I came from. Some of these thoughts may seem random and out of place but I kinda wrote this while writing another paper that just so happens to be due on the 11, and if you didn’t know this is the tenth. So enough with jib-jab….
I was born March 26, 1990. Since that time I lived in Okeechobee, Fl. I attended a private school for preschool and kindergarten, but went to public school for both first and second grade. From my third grade year all the way up to college I was home schooled. Now before you get any preconceived notions about how weird I must be because I was home schooled let me say this: my parents did it not because I was having problems learning or interacting with other students but because they felt led to—plain and simple.
I grew up in a close nit family. My father is the youngest of three kids. My uncle is the middle child and my aunt is the oldest. I have four cousins and one sibling. One of these days I draw a flow chart or something so that you might get a better understanding of my family. Lets just say that I am very close not only in age but also in person to all of my cousins. Anyways enough with the family.
I am now 18 years old and as I said in my first post I am attending college at Indian River State College where I am studying Political Science with the intention of attending law school. Aside from my school work I help out at my church, mainly as a sound tech, but I also help with power point (though I actually use a program called Media Shout) and I also make short promotional videos for different ministries. I used to play tennis but I stunk, and that is all I am going to say about that.
As a matter of fact that is all I am going to say tonight or this morning as it turns out, but not to worry there will be more coming up after finals are over.

Hello world!
•December 10, 2008 • Leave a CommentThe title—Generic, perhaps; my life—anything but. I got the idea to start blogging from an acquaintance of mine. I say acquaintance because although we may talk a little, I have only met the guy once…and that was a long time ago. But anyways here I am starting my own blog, as if I actually have time. I am full time student at Indian River State College where I am studying Political Science with the intent to go into law—we shall see how that works out. One very important thing you should know about me is that I can not spell to save my life. So if you run into a word (or group of words) that makes no sense whatsoever, just think about it. It shouldn’t be to hard to figure out what I am trying to say. I am a simple guy with a simple vocabulary.
Strangely enough I love to read and then write about what I have read—critique. Who would of thought that a guy who can not spell would love to write about Shakespeare and other great writers. So from time to time I will be posting some of my works just so you can get a feel for what I do. There not impressive but then again nobodygoing to stick around long enough to figure that out.
With that in mind I will be posting over the next couple of days more about myself. Until then…..
